Swimmer Posted April 13, 2006 CID Share Posted April 13, 2006 It sounds like a profile issue.. Have you disabled any services? There is a service that controls ping and tracert.. i just cant think what it is at this moment..
wak_wak Posted April 14, 2006 Author CID Share Posted April 14, 2006 i scaned my PC several times with Norton 2006, search and destroy, spyblaster and ewido. Guest helloimtim Posted April 14, 2006 CID Share Posted April 14, 2006 Silly question. But have you made sure your firewall was not the problem?? Maybey turn it off and try it. I assume you have the windows one disabled and running a 3rd party firewall? Maybey thats the problem..........In short turn off the firewall or both firewalls and see if that does not cure the issue.
j3grizz Posted April 15, 2006 CID Share Posted April 15, 2006 The service that Swimmer is talking about is the IPSEC service. Go into services and disable it and stop the service. Then see if you can ping.
wak_wak Posted April 15, 2006 Author CID Share Posted April 15, 2006 what u mean by IPSEC? where can i find it?
tommie gorman Posted April 15, 2006 CID Share Posted April 15, 2006 what u mean by IPSEC? where can i find it? Start*Run*msconfig*OK*Services Tab*Scroll down*uncheck*reboot What is IPSEC, mine is checked also? Never mind,Google: Short for IP Security, a set of protocols developed by the IETF to support secure exchange of packets at the IP layer. IPsec has been deployed widely to implement Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
