FallowEarth Posted May 1, 2006 CID Share Posted May 1, 2006 Hey victord66, Sounds like you have a lot of tweak programs operating. Sometimes, they can conflict with each other. I would suggest clearing and saving the values of all other apps but cablenut (ie. use only cablenut!). Try the file I have zipped below. When you open it in cablenut, set the DefaultReceiveWindow to 383328. Save to registry, reboot, retest. Another factor might be that you are running programs or processes which are interfering with your connection. Things like firewalls, browser toolbars/extensions, p2p or torrent clients, even IM's can cause your speedtest results to be lower. Often, booting into safe mode with networking and then testing is a good way to see if this is the case.

You can't seem to see anything wrong in the logs I've submited and even though these tweaks have improved things a little, I'm still a ways from the 5Mbps and I've never had 5Mbps since it's been installed. I don't think tweaking any more is going to help. Could it be perhaps a faulty modem? Or maybe Bell Sympatico just doesn't want to give my my 5Mbps? tommie gorman Posted May 2, 2006 CID Share Posted May 2, 2006 victord66 if your provider has a speed test, just take several speed test's at the bad time of day. And use this info to complain. You do not have to have a tech out to log test's. Make sure it is always at bad time of day, to proove your point. Their test is also undeniable. rammolo Posted May 2, 2006 CID Share Posted May 2, 2006 Problem with most ISP is that they dont guarantee speeds, thay usually state UP TO X Mbps
