DJ_AMAT Posted May 6, 2006 CID Share Posted May 6, 2006 I need help about my DSL setting ( as shown below ). My speed as advertised ISP is 1000/384kbps. I did all the tweaks but still my speed is getting slow. Since I'm ur junior and u r my senior, i hope u all can help me. Tweak me please. Tq OS: Win XP TCP options string = 0204058401010402 MTU = 1452 MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings. MSS = 1412 MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value. Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240 RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240 For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS. tommie gorman Posted May 7, 2006 CID Share Posted May 7, 2006 With a 1000/384Kbps package. 972 Kbps and 322 Kbps is pretty close. With DSL I would not chance it. You are running pretty close. You might mess it up if you change it. I personally would not, Just make sure it is clean of virus and spyware, and your registryis clean. and defrag regularly. This should be all you need: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257

FallowEarth Posted May 7, 2006 CID Share Posted May 7, 2006 DJ_AMAT , there are no guarantees, but if you are interested in trying a couple things, you might look into using cablenut to change a couple settings. MTU can go to 1480, Default receive window (RWIN) to 129904. You might notice a difference from these settings. I would be sure to back up your registry before tweaking. But just so you know, cablenut tweaks are reversible. Here's your tweak guide: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-2097 And cablenut: http://www.testmy.net/topic-1013 And be sure to try testing from a few mirrors: http://www.testmy.net/tools/mirrors.php
