ROM-DOS Posted May 12, 2006 CID Share Posted May 12, 2006 Intel talks about what we can expect from its new gaming CPU, Core 2 Extreme ~ a 40% gain over the current 3.73 GHz Extreme Edition 965 - which would be rather impressive and could indicate a problem for AMD. In this interview with TG Daily, Intel also claims that a Core 2 Extreme-based enthusiast PC will leave the pixel power of a Playstation 3 in the dust. anox195 Posted May 12, 2006 CID Share Posted May 12, 2006 what kind of speeds will we be expecting from this new intel cpu?
Swimmer Posted May 12, 2006 CID Share Posted May 12, 2006 it might not be physical speed that Intel is going for.. it might be architecture.. The speed race of the '90-'00 is pretty much over since AMD Athlon came out.. Now it is about the architecture and heat.. There was also rumors that with the launch of AM2 AMD is going to launch new chips.. It is expected that it could give about a 10% speed increase.. Likewise Intel still has conroe coming out in 2 months..
