RCA CableModem Problemmo

Recommended Posts

just moved across town & still have Comcast cable; but had to use different modem due to geographical crap.

No problems with Comcast using the Toshiba, but now i can not send or receive files on IRC, & Ident-d server is also not working on IRC. :( :(

running WinXP Pro / 1Gb DDR Ram / Athlon 1800 / Via chipset / Montego sound / onboard LAN

Any insight is greatly appreciated  :D :D

did you change anything on your computer? or anything in your router?

only change i can think of is installation of IE-7, but i did this before the dreaded RCA modem was hooked up...no router in use either

there must be a way into the modem settings, i assume it is somewhat configurable as DSL modem is...sucks bad though.

seems it was not the modem at all; a few services in XP Pro were disabled, after enabling them & starting the sservices, everything was Roses.....i suspect that the IE7 install changed a few things....does anyone else think that IE7 is a pile of rubbish, i have nothing good to post about it after using it 3 months +...

many thanks  ;)

welcome to microsoft of 2006.. just about everything they are doing right now is being delayed, fixed, or patched..  I am really interested to see how this office 2007, IE 7 and Vista thing goes.. maybe this is why gates is stepping down?
