Heya,

I've been using SBC Yahoo!, (Ameritech), and my connection is rated at 3008 Kbps (downstream), 512 Kbps (upstream). I've been running with my isp for about a year or so. Originally I believe the speed we received was a 1.5mbit connection, and it seems it's been upgraded.

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 1302 Kbps about 1.3 Mbps (tested with 748 kB)

Download Speed is:: 159 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net  (Server 2)

Test Time:: 2006/06/05 - 9:25pm

Bottom Line:: 23X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 6.44 sec

Tested from a 748 kB file and took 4.704 seconds to complete

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4

Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 61.56 % of your hosts average (ameritech.net)

I kinda feel like I'm getting ripped off here, and was wondering how I'd be able to get that other 20%.

I'm not sure wether a registry tweak would fix this issue or not, I get pretty good speeds when using bittorrent and such, but since the connect is now, supposely something like 2.9mbit, I'm only at 1.3mbit...

My modem is a SpeedStream 5100, wondering if purchasing a new modem would change anything.

Thanks for any help.  :?

Alright thanks, no issues with spyware and such, running Windows XP Home SP2, using my motherboard's (Abit AV8 Gigabit LAN) ethernet port.

My SBC plan is [sBC Yahoo! DSL Pro], and currently paying $26.27 a month, so it seem's I'm definately getting ripped off here.

What should I do? Call them? :/

calling them is always a good thing, you may also want to make sure your getting the proper modem sync rate. there is a page in your modem that will tell you what your actually downstream and upstream sync rate is.
