Wat is the min cpu speed? you could do it on that. i ran beta 2 on a 1000mhz P3, you just have to turn aero off.
resopalrabotnick Posted June 7, 2006 CID Share Posted June 7, 2006 1100 should be plenty to run the command prompt... but seriously, with some of the eye candy off it should work fine. probably comparable to xp. (who knows, maybe even faster?)

Shug7272 Posted June 8, 2006 CID Share Posted June 8, 2006 never mind wasnt thinking. use daemon( i think that is how you spell it) tools if you dont have dvd drive This is exactly what I said. Although I recommended Alcohol as well. Daemon is free and I love it. But I figured you would do a fresh install so Daemon would do you no good on an OS. resopalrabotnick Posted June 8, 2006 CID Share Posted June 8, 2006 would have to throw the probably bootable dvd image onto one hard drive, boot from it and then install to another?
amc11890 Posted June 8, 2006 CID Share Posted June 8, 2006 Actually Daemon tools allows you to have "virtual Drives". Up to 4 i think. Basically you mount a iso image to one of the virtulal drives and then double click the drive icon. THe virtual drives appear as if they were a reguular drive
resopalrabotnick Posted June 8, 2006 CID Share Posted June 8, 2006 yeah. but i wonder how the vista installer likes that. if it will install it out of xp like an upgrade, fine. but if it wants to boot from the dvd created with the image... amc11890 Posted June 8, 2006 CID Share Posted June 8, 2006 there must be some way to install it w/o a dvd drive

This is why I modified my post to "never mind I wasnt thinking" I dont think it will work. Once you reboot daemon will be gone so you need the dvd, and if there is a way to make it work buying a blank dvd will probably be better. there must be some way to install it w/o a dvd drive Maybe if you wanted to go to the trouble of making bootable CD's from the dvd, but that would be WAAAYYYY to much work. resopalrabotnick Posted June 8, 2006 CID Share Posted June 8, 2006 probably by prepping a hd with it and booting from that then installing to another drive. maybe even booting from one partition then installing to another. in any case, Back up your DATA!
