Neon5589 Posted June 15, 2006 CID Share Posted June 15, 2006 Lately it seems that my speed for Earthlink has been substantially slow. From 2004 to May 2006 my speeds have been good. Usually my connection is 4.8-5000 kB/s . Now, it's at 2-3000 kB/s. What can I do? Would a broadband booster help, such as the Motorola Signal Booster [Google that]. I live in a Co-op, so I guess that if others were to get BB in the building it would affect me, not cool.
Shug7272 Posted June 15, 2006 CID Share Posted June 15, 2006 Hey Neon welcome to the site. Im not sure the signal booster would do you much good. You say you live in a co-op so it is entirely possible that your speed is being compromised by the fluctuation in your neighbors usage. Do you test at the same time each day. I would say test late at night or early morning to see what you get when the others are probably not on. http://www.testmy.net/topic-1013 You can always try the tweek guide if you have not yet. Again glad to have you in the forum, hope you hang out and enjoy yourself.

Neon5589 Posted June 15, 2006 Author CID Share Posted June 15, 2006 Thanks, great to be here. Last night I did the test again [1:30AM EST] and I was bumped up to 4.2 Kb/s. It's an improvement, but you can tell when it has dropped when surfing the web [it lags a bit]. Thanks for the feed back. I guess I have to work with what I have... I will check out the tweaks. My current connection is 4345 Kbps, not what I'm use to, but it's not lagging, so who's complaining. Thanks again.
