asubaseball727 Posted September 7, 2006 CID Share Posted September 7, 2006 I just purchased a 200gb HD I plan as setting up as a slave drive. Right now I just have the stock dell fan running the hd that come with the computer and a horribly slow 40gb as a slave drive in. Will I need more cooling/ what kind/ where should I purchase it? Swimmer Posted September 7, 2006 CID Share Posted September 7, 2006 shouldnt need anymore.. most hard drives dont produce a lot of heat.. unless you have a 10,000rpm hard drive like a SCSI driver of one of Western Digitals Raptors... I have seen a few Maxtor SATA II drives that get pretty warm..
dlewis23 Posted September 7, 2006 CID Share Posted September 7, 2006 you wont need more cooling for that, its not going to generate much heat
peepnklown Posted September 7, 2006 CID Share Posted September 7, 2006 Duct tape a deluxe steel fan to the side for fun.
php Posted September 7, 2006 CID Share Posted September 7, 2006 Maybe, maybe not. Something like HDD Themometer would be a good idea until you know about how warm the drives are running (MBM5 works as well)... I know when I added a hd to my 4700 the drive temps went rather high... (it wasn't great to start out with though)
