edddy30 Posted September 8, 2006 CID Share Posted September 8, 2006 I had a Speedstream 5360 modem from sbc but one day stopped working. Now I have tried 3 different routers including a 5360 but i can't get the speed i was getting before (2.6 mbps) bytheway, i have sbc pro. I am getting about 1.6~1.75.I've checked my computer for viruses, spyware, and adware and nothing came out. I did power cycle the router, i keep getting the same speed. Right now, i am using a 1000HW 2Wire Router. Hopefully, someone might be able to help me. :::.. As I mentioned before, everything was working fine until my speedstream 5360 broke. I do clean ups daily.

dlewis23 Posted September 8, 2006 CID Share Posted September 8, 2006 im thinking that it is something with rate that your modem is synked at. In your modems control panel there will be a section with all your line stats and on there will be your max download and upload rate you need to find that. edddy30 Posted September 9, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 9, 2006 Remember I am using the 2wire 1000hw modem. If my modem is not synked correctly, how can i fix it to the right setting?
dlewis23 Posted September 9, 2006 CID Share Posted September 9, 2006 Downstream Rate: 1984 kbps Upstream Rate: 512 kbps there is your problem right there. your on 3mbps DSL but your only connection at about 2mbps. the only way to fix this is call your ISP, and tell them my modem is not synked at full speed its 1mbps off. edddy30 Posted September 9, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 9, 2006 i've done it,but i may be doing it wrong. Can you instruct me how to do it right?
edddy30 Posted September 9, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 9, 2006 I call att, and his rep said that there is nothing wrong with the line. I asked him about synching my modem, but he said that there was nothing to do since i was getting a connection and i was getting 1.6 mbps, whics covers the advertised speed.(1.5~3.0 mbps)
tommie gorman Posted September 10, 2006 CID Share Posted September 10, 2006 I don't know about you edddy30, but if I was paying for 3.0 and all I could get was bairly over 1.5. They would either be getting a different modem, resetting it, or lowering my bill to reflect the 1.5 speeds and the lower price. Including all the time I had been paying for 3.0 and getting 1.5. Sorry, I just hate getting burned.
edddy30 Posted September 10, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 10, 2006 They argue that they are giving me the advertised speed which ranges from 1.5~3.0 mbps. But i am getting ~1.65 Mbps.
tommie gorman Posted September 10, 2006 CID Share Posted September 10, 2006 Maybe that is all your line will handle! In which case I would save my money and ask that they switch me to the 1.5 plan that I am getting speeds at anyway. At least you get to save some of the $$.
