g1nked Posted November 22, 2006 CID Share Posted November 22, 2006 I live in the Greenville Indiana area of Insights services and know that the upgrade is in progress. I wonder when it will become stable and consistent. I average 1.2MB on here which is way below insights avg and then other times i will get 9.8 or even 10.2 but those scores or more overnight in non peak traffic time. I live in a fairly rural area so I dont think my node is stressed by any means and i have a dedicated line non split to my modem from the road pole. I just think it will be a matter of time to stabilize that but I hope its not a problem they are aware of and working on for years. I got good cable modem signals and no apparent issues that would be causing this problem just for me. Im curious if anyone is a speed test junkie like me and test speeds 30 times a day! LOL well thanks alot on any insight on insightbb 10.
coknuck Posted November 22, 2006 CID Share Posted November 22, 2006 I think a lot of the problem lies with Level3. Like Swimmer said over sold. Routing South goes through Atlanta and it sucks. Routing North goes through Sprint and the pings are a lot better. Blunted 2 Posted November 22, 2006 CID Share Posted November 22, 2006 i called my isp a few times complaining about that and they had a tech come out and look at my tests for packetloss and copied everything and ran some tests of his own and after a few days it changed by itself. i guess you should call them and see what they might be able to do
TimPawlak Posted November 22, 2006 CID Share Posted November 22, 2006 yeah, i called them.. they said they could have someone come out and check my lines.. how lame
Blunted 2 Posted November 22, 2006 CID Share Posted November 22, 2006 when they come out show them a few packetloss tests in daytime and night along with some trace routes showing packetloss and no matter what just bug the hell out of them and make them check everything. call a few times if you have to and demand they find the problem or you will cancel and find a new isp. Swimmer Posted December 5, 2006 CID Share Posted December 5, 2006 anything we could do to to get them to change? Not really... I dont know if you have ever heard of a website called youtube.com.. but they bought multiple 10GBE port onto the internet though level3 back in September.. Many people think this was the over sell that is causing problems.. Before that I remember Level3 crashing their network because of some disagreement over a contract.. which if I remember correctly hurt tmn for those using lvl3.. Good company summary.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_3 How to fix this.. really cant.. they control the backbone and dont really care. All they care about is the money and making sure that their high end customers are on good connections.
