I'm lucky. I work for them and I'm in an area where its being tested.

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

Download Connection is:: 28091 Kbps about 28.1 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)

Download Speed is:: 3429 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

Test Time:: 2006/12/14 - 3:02am

Bottom Line:: 490X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.3 sec

Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 3.546 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 417.9 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net)

User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0

The catch is that the upload is still 768. Lame. But imagine how nice 3MB/sec is! :)

I downloaded a 2GB download in about 10 minutes. Rockin.

I never imagined Comcast could hit these speeds but from the team meeting we had awhile back, they can hit 30Mbps on what bandwidth is currently allocated to HSI. They are quadrupling that some time next year or early 2008. They're expecting to be able to hit 100Mbps per subscriber.

They really ARE testing these speeds. They have plans to hit 100Mbps by January of 2008 and this is phase one of that transition.

They have to have SOMETHING to answer Qwest and Verizon with, you know.

If it was powerboosting, the "boost" drops off after 45 seconds of a download. The first image shows a download near completion that is still at those speeds.

Dude trust me, I know how Powerboost works and its not meant to work that long. If you look at my first screenshot, I was 600MB into my download and still getting those speeds. That's about 4 minutes into that download. Here's another shot for you;

wow4.jpg

Powerboost isn't supposed to hit speeds over twice the connection speed you pay for. I pay for 8Mbps therefore I shouldn't get above 16. If you look at that screenshot though, ~3.5MB/sec is most certainly way above 2MB/sec.

It stays that way through the whole download. Do I need to take a video to prove this to you?

I really don't care if you believe me or not. I know what kind of speeds I'm seeing and I'm just letting everyone know that there's hope coming for those that are stuck on slower Comcast. Some areas don't even have 8Mbps yet!

i dont know but i have seen some weird comcast tests and i dont think they are coming out with that cause they dont even have there 16/1 service out in all area's where fios is and that makes me think its not real unless they announced it.  my isp is coming out with a 50/50 that is in beta and they announced it and will be available in Q1 of 2007 so until it is announced i dont believe it.

sorry but thats me i need facts

dude I've shown you a number of tests illustrating this.

I was browsing while that file was downloading, so the speed fluctuated a bit, but this program even shows you my average download speed.

Powerboost CAN NOT go for over 1200MB of a download. Period. If people are getting that long of a sustained download speed, then that is their download speed.

Comcast has a lot of tricks up their sleeve, like IPTV, Video conferencing through cable, and the WiMax network they're building with the spectrum they bought. Just because you haven't heard about something doesn't mean its false.

EDIT: Comcast tests just about everything internally through their employees before launching it to the public. It minimizes customer frustration when something doesn't work right. We get the new single tuner DVRs to test first before they're released, we get all the new programming guides (god what a nightmare), we get new tests on bandwidth, and any time Comcast comes out with a new modem or a new box, it goes to employees first. We're the guinea pigs for everything, whether we like it or not. Something like this, I don't mind. But when they asked me to trade in my Motorola HD-DVR3416 for a new Pace single tuner, I got annoyed.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/docsdiag/#runwin

download docsdiag and when you open the folder click the 2kXP-win and type java -jar docsdiag.jar -vvv>output.txt and then look in the folder that you downloaded and a file called output will be there.  attach it in your next post and i'll tell you what your cap is and until you do it i wont believe you.  sorry but i need the facts

here is a program thet will make a graph of what speeds you downloaded at if you want to try it

what programs you using cause some throw it off a bit and i just find it hard to believe.  comcast doesnt even offer its highest tier in all of its area's yet and didnt even finish this old upgrade yet so why wwould they offer a new 1 and still keep that slow 768 upload.  if its right then good for you man  :wink2:  just show me some proof if you get it sometime

do a speedtest on these

And speakeasy and dslreports can't handle my connection speed... they don't even nail the powerboost speed but I'll do them anyway. One sec.

Speakeasy San Fran:

Last Result:

Download Speed: 13408 kbps (1676 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 705 kbps (88.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

LA:

Last Result:

Download Speed: 11638 kbps (1454.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 704 kbps (88 KB/sec transfer rate)

But they never come close to even hitting my powerboost speed test that I always got with Testmy until now: 17Mbps.

I won't even bother with DSLreports. That crap never even hits my 8Mb speed usually.

As for programs: Its a fresh Vista install dude. I just installed it today. Only programs I've installed are Tomb Raider: Legend, D-Tools, Orbit (downloader program), Firefox, and Thunderbird.

I'm seriously not joking... they launched powerboost to test 12 and 16. Everything else will be run through employees.

That said: I'd KILL to be in an Optimum area... Those speeds make me drool.  :tickedoff:

EDIT: I know these tests are sort of taboo here but I'm just throwing them in for good measure:

i tried to get on the beta for 50/50 but i cant because its not in my area yet

Ouch. That sucks. But it'll be there soon enough. Sooner than we'll get 50 with Comcast, that's for sure. :P

etherealremnant

what package u on the 30mb/s >>>

I'm paying 10/mo for 8Mbps (the other 42.95 is paid since I work for them) - I haven't gotten to check my account to see if they've put any new speed codes on there. Its kinda not allowed for us to check out accounts because of the temptation to give ourselves credit and such that exists.
