etherealremnant Posted December 16, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 Comcast hasn't launched 16/1 everywhere yet because of the fact that there's no competition requiring them to. All Verizon areas should be 16/1 now. We've got our work cut out for us with our purchase of Adelphia... you think Comcast's network is bad? Try being an Adelphia customer. Most, if not all of their areas, are still on NAS networks instead of DAC. Without DAC, there won't be any video on demand, higher speed internet, or any of the new services coming down the pipes. As far as my speeds... I really don't see how someone who's within 200 miles of those servers can sit there and say that my speed results are somehow disproving the fact I'm running at 30Mbps. The CLOSEST server to me on that list was 968mi... Either way, I'm sitting here riding the waves of insanely fast internet so I don't really care who believes me and who doesn't. But when it lands, you can be damn sure I'll be back here telling you all "I told you so". It really doesn't make that much of a difference though if you ask me. I have to connect to at least 5 different servers in order to get my top speeds so its pretty useless for most things. It basically just gives you bragging rights and that's it. Now if they'd boost my upload speed, I could definitely get some serious usage out of it. But I'm not holding my breath on that happening any time soon. etherealremnant Posted December 16, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 Dude seriously, just drop it. Nothing I'm going to do is going to make you happy. I've run your speed tests, I've shown you clips from active downloads. Hell, one of the active downloads even had an average speed... I even ran that net burst program you asked me to run. Its NOT powerboost! Something tells me that someone just doesn't want someone else on the forum to have the same download speed that you pay hard cash for and only pay 10/mo for it. Blunted 2 Posted December 16, 2006 CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 there is alot of people faster than me on here and i dont care and your just trying to make it seem like that with your words cause your lying but there has been alot of people that lie about it and i think you are cause if it is 30 mb you should be able to hit close to that to alot of sites cause i sure can and you say the speedtest sites cant do it but they are plenty capable unless comcast just cant do it. i'm done with this cause i know you have powerboost and thats it. etherealremnant Posted December 16, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 :2funny: Oh man you really crack me up. Want to come over and start some downloads yourself? Tell me... since you think you're god and all... if the servers are capable of it... and Powerboost starts at the beginning of a download... then how come I'm hitting much higher speeds when I'm downloading? Chained Powerboost? Superboost on mega large files? I'm totally at a loss at how you can look at the speedtests I've hit on this site and the numerous pieces of photographic evidence and flat-out call me a liar?! I swear. People and their know it all big heads.
ajb62787 Posted December 16, 2006 CID Share Posted December 16, 2006 Nah I heard from in the past Comcast was stealing Verizon's idea on 30Mbps and thats why ppl can get 30Mbps through powerboost. Fiber is infinity or up to so far 622 Mbps tested donwstream 151Mbps upstream through Verizon's networking but Cable have its barriers at around 75Mbps. And for the big files Powerboost only activates at or around 30MB file size. 20 MB is pretty simple for me 56 seconds for 20MB
