Axellion Posted December 31, 2006 CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 Has anyone had any luck with gaming on xplornet, iv had a lot of trouble, i think the Recever/antena is blocking traffic. When i set a port to be open on my router im still told it is blocked. When you login to the Recever there are options to open ports and such but this requires an admin password witch xplornet will not give me. Anyone else try gaming on xplornet? falco Posted December 31, 2006 CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 It's just about impossible to do any on-line gaming on satellite because of the high latency which causes lag. tommie gorman Posted December 31, 2006 CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 Welcome to the forum Axellion. Was that a satelite or wireless connection? With satelite it is as falco said. tommie gorman Posted December 31, 2006 CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 Thats what I thought, so the question is still open. We need an ISP directory for regulars. So they can be PM'd more readily at times like these. Who's on wireless? tommie gorman Posted December 31, 2006 CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 I think it is just a wireless question. I know there are a few, just don't come to mind. One of them used to be on Direcway too. 4000 modem. He switced to wireless...thinking...___________________________. Went blank. We need a directory. Ha Ha , just-in-lay. He is on wireless. Maybe he will be on this weekend. Yep, I would check with him. tommie gorman Posted December 31, 2006 CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 Yeah, 128kbps speeds. That crap cost too much, for very little performance. It is very old school stuff. Hardly anyone even messes with anymore. Here. "Internet Access. ISDN provides high-speed, cost-effective digital access to the internet. At 128Kbps, a Basic Rate Interface (BRI) ISDN line is eight times faster than a 14.4Kbps modem, less expensive to use, and easier to maintain. And a Primary Rate Interface (PRI) provides even greater capacity. " http://www01.sbc.com/Products_Services/Business/ProdInfo_1/1,,26--4-1-0,00.html?submit.y=8&submit.x=11 Too much...too little. Axellion Posted December 31, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 31, 2006 Its wireless not sat and its not a speed isssue, in fact some games work great like resistance for ps3, no lag runs very smooth. Its that some ports are blocked and not by my router even in a DMZ some games will not play cause the ports are blocked. There is an option in the recever to open ports but it requires admin. tommie gorman Posted January 1, 2007 CID Share Posted January 1, 2007 I just wish I could get something stable 24/7. 1500/384 would be fine if it worked, and was reasonable.
