wyantm06 Posted January 14, 2007 CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 Ok, I am helping a friend out right now on his PC. He has a 2mb down 512 up Internet speed. He gets 200 something KB per second on Internet explorer downloading something but on uTorrent he is getting like 1.6kbps.It is going slow and taking days to download. We checked the ports on uTorrent and they are open. It is a active file he is downloading to, it has like 50 seeds and maybe 2 people are leeching off him. I myself just downloaded it and got like 500 something kbps. What could his problem be?

wyantm06 Posted January 14, 2007 Author CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 Doesn't seem to be improving. How do I get to Windows Firewall allowed list? I am thinking that may be blocking it.

wyantm06 Posted January 14, 2007 Author CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 Looks like it is already on the allowed list. I don't know what else could be slowing it down. I disabled Norton and still nothing improving.
coknuck Posted January 14, 2007 CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 There is a lot of controversy over ISP's throttling torrents now. It starts out great and then almost comes to a screeching halt.

It starts out great and then almost comes to a screeching halt. So it is possible that his ISP is watching what he downloads, to make sure it isn't illegal? Is what you're trying to say? Or do they just screw with you lol.
