Comcast speeds VERY slow

I don't know what I did wrong, but I must have done SOMETHING. I ran the TCP Optimizer and it made my connection slower. In accordance with the stickied topic at the top of this forum ( :wink: ), here's what I have:

I'm using Windows XP with Comcast Digital Cable. As I've said, I used TCP Optimizer...and I think that's it. This is my TCP/IP Analyzer test results:

I got a better speed now...all I had to do was unplug and plug back in my wireless reciever. It's not the best speed I've ever gotten though. Here's the results:

Have you tried directly connected to modem?

Have you tried directly connected to modem?

I can, but I won't be able to STAY connected to my modem. What I mean is, I'd have to eventually go back to wireless because the ethernet cord that's in this room is being used by something else.

Here's the results:

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

Download Connection is:: 8215 Kbps about 8.2 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)

Download Speed is:: 1003 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

Test Time:: 2007/01/17 - 12:55pm

Bottom Line:: 143X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 1.02 sec

Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 12.125 seconds to complete

Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 47.88 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net)

D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FQ2E1YT30

User Agent:: Opera/9.10 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)

::::::::::.. Upload Stats ..::::::::::

Upload Connection is:: 306 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 579 kB)

Upload Speed is:: 37 kB/s

Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

Test Time:: 2007/01/17 - 12:56pm

Bottom Line:: 5X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 27.68 sec

Tested from a 579 kB file and took 15.516 seconds to complete

Upload Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 73.21 % of your hosts average (Comcast.net)

I notice that I'm now above normal (for download) with a wired connection, is there any way to achieve that with wireless?

I am, but I don't have another Ethernet cord long enough to reach into this room. I'm currently using the one that IS long enough for something else. I could go out and buy one...but that requires money. Something I don't have too much of :wink2: (I'm 15, can't get a job until I'm 16).

Wait do you have a ethernet port in the computer that you are using wireless on? What kind of signal are you getting where you are running these tests?

EDIT:

When you are running TCP Optimizer select your wireless card from this list.

TCP.bmp

Yes, I have a wireless card and an ethernet port on this computer. However, I only use the wireless because the ethernet cord is going to something else. The signal is ususally Very Good/Excellent when I run the tests. And when I used TCP Optimizer, it defaulted to the wireless connector (I assume it sorts them alphabetically, it's a Dell connector, so it's first).
