amc11890 Posted September 1, 2007 CID Share Posted September 1, 2007 I have a 5.1 logitech speaker setup, and whenever i try and connect the first set of speakers a dialog comes up asking which speaker this is and i choose front left and right(which is right) but when i choose that option it automatically switches to digital output(i dont have digital speakers) so the only way i can get the speakers to work is to set the first two speakers as line in. In that case all the other speakers work except for the first two ones becuase they are set as line in. BTW i only have this problem with vista and not with xp. ninjageek Posted September 1, 2007 CID Share Posted September 1, 2007 If you have the model number of the speakers it sounds like a driver issue with vista. If you want give the model number and maybe one of us can find something that will work for ya?
amc11890 Posted September 1, 2007 Author CID Share Posted September 1, 2007 speakers are logitech x-530 and the sound card is realtek HD audio.
ninjageek Posted September 2, 2007 CID Share Posted September 2, 2007 http://neosmart.net/blog/2006/vista-sound-drivers/ About 3/4 down the page you will find what I hope are the right drivers. see if that cures the problem. The link will not work right with opera, works fine with internet explorer. I just checked today. Used maxthon2 and the download was ready to start. amc11890 Posted September 2, 2007 Author CID Share Posted September 2, 2007 no that actually made it worse, because now i have zero sound and it is configured as a digital output device and its saying there are no speakers connected. coknuck Posted September 2, 2007 CID Share Posted September 2, 2007 Are you using a sound card or on board sound?

Stank_Ho Posted September 3, 2007 CID Share Posted September 3, 2007 Can you really use 5.1 without a separate sound card?
coknuck Posted September 3, 2007 CID Share Posted September 3, 2007 That just might be your problem. I found this, you might want to read it. My on board only has 3 jacks. My sound Blaster has 5 jacks and thats what you need! http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=296281&forumid=
amc11890 Posted September 3, 2007 Author CID Share Posted September 3, 2007 No it has to be driver related because when i had xp, i was able to use all of them just fine, with the same computer. BTW the onboard soundcard has six jacks. I am beginning to think vista wasnt worth it.
Stank_Ho Posted September 3, 2007 CID Share Posted September 3, 2007 I have the 530 Logitech 5.1 speakers too, but my sad mobo would never use them properly. I bought an Audigy2 ZS and the base reverb bounces my beer off the desk!

I feel horrid. Im so sorry my suggestion made things worse. Goodness vista was so not ready for the pc. I am at a loss at any more ideas. One more time. I am really sorry that did not fix the issue. I thought forsure that was the solution.
