PsychoFox Posted October 4, 2007 CID Share Posted October 4, 2007 Hello again, I was wondering how do you find out out if your NIC is running at half or full duplex? (I use Windows XP, and my network card is Intel PRO 100/VE) But I cant seem to find what duplex its running at.
Swimmer Posted October 4, 2007 CID Share Posted October 4, 2007 right click my computer -> properties -> hardware -> device manager -> Look under network adapters -> double click the NIC and then look under Advanced. There should be a property called Speed & Duplex..
Blako Posted October 4, 2007 CID Share Posted October 4, 2007 What are the pros and cons for each? Is full duplex likened to a walke talke and half duplex like a telephone? one way vs two way?
Swimmer Posted October 4, 2007 CID Share Posted October 4, 2007 full duplex is the ability to send and receive at the same time.. Half duplex is only being able to do one at a time.. If you are seeing high error rates or the length of your Ethernet cable is getting near 100m you would want half duplex.
sillybilly Posted October 5, 2007 CID Share Posted October 5, 2007 I also have a question.. I run the via Rhine II, then into a hub, then to the speedstream dsl modem. For the via rhine, it has 100 base Tx Full duplex, 100 base Tx Half duplex, 10baset full, and 10baset half.. What should these settings be??? I can not find settings guide any where. jun101ph Posted October 5, 2007 CID Share Posted October 5, 2007 choose 100 base Tx Full duplex <---- ideal for two way communications w/ faster transfer rate.
