IE6 & virus problems.

Recommended Posts

I think I got rid of the buggers. But I believe I also am left withy damage that seems mighty hard to fix.

It keeps knocking me off line at random. Says it neds to close and takes me out of the browser.

I did a lot of removals of virus and spyware. Yes a but load. spybot,AVG free anti virus and spyware, adaware, wndows defender, Hijack this, spyware blaster is also installed. And everything is update. Plus I also ran in safe mode. Even tried a couple of online scans.

I can't seem to reinstall IE6 by # 3 & 4 methods. It won't allow it to even do a sfc/scannow in run. And Ie.inf file seems to be missing. Yes I want to keep IE6 if possible.

I am not allowed to do a restore point.

Any other ideas besides save and reformat?

No I do not remember what was in it.  :evil2:

When I do that this is displayed.

'The file 'IEXPLORE>EXE' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed.

Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.

Copy files from:

C:WINDOWSinfi386              OR

A:                                            OR

I have XP home with SP2 and did the install with the "iereset" and it didn't hurt anything. But I'm not having any problems. The others I'm not sure about. I'll bet when Sequoia reads this he will have an idea or two. Have you tried contacting him?
