philp Posted February 23, 2008 CID Share Posted February 23, 2008 Ok, this is probably a silly question, but if I disable SSID broadcast in my Linksys WRT54GS wireless router, will the computers I have listed in my wireless router's MAC address filter list still be able to connect to the router? derek22x Posted February 23, 2008 CID Share Posted February 23, 2008 It just won't broadcast the router's SSID but yes they will still be able to connect.
dlewis23 Posted February 23, 2008 CID Share Posted February 23, 2008 Yes they will still be able to connect. But if you are doing this for security reasons, don't waste your time.
philp Posted February 24, 2008 Author CID Share Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks for the replies, guys. I couldn't find the definitive answer anywhere else. No, I'm not going to do it for security reasons. I already have that taken care of. I was just curious what would happen if the SSID wasn't broadcast.
