JH2688 Posted April 28, 2008 CID Share Posted April 28, 2008 hopefully this is an easy one. when the screen comes up to select the which OS you want i cannot go up or down. and after the count down it automatically goes to Linux. why can i not pick the OS i want and how do i change it so the windows would be the default OS

I'm fearing you used Lilo instead of grub, could that be?
fr0stbound Posted April 28, 2008 CID Share Posted April 28, 2008 I don't think you can change the order the bootloader displays the OS selection.

mudmanc4 Posted April 28, 2008 CID Share Posted April 28, 2008 i have no idea, i dot remember seeing any of that It was an option when you used the partitioner/boot loader . I'm not saying this is a problem, they just work differently. Personally , I have only used Lilo once , I forget why I had to use it. You should be ok, but fix it? Once you install that thing , it's on. I just would like to know what options you have on the screen, are there different build numbers, and the windows option, stuff like that? JH2688 Posted April 28, 2008 Author CID Share Posted April 28, 2008 i did some testing. i didnt think that this was going to be the problem but i think it is. I am using a wireless mouse and keyboard. when i plugged in a wired keyboard it worked just fine. i threw this out early because i could get to my bios screen with it. i wonder why the keyboard does not work during the boot screen
ninjageek Posted April 28, 2008 CID Share Posted April 28, 2008 Ok go to to your add remove programs. Search the word start. In the settings section you should see the word start-up manager. If its not installed install it please. Then go to your system settings and find Start-up manager. Open it and edit your settings as you wish. On you keyboad you should be able to select the os you want with the up and down arrows. Hope that helps.
