Roco Posted November 17, 2008 CID Share Posted November 17, 2008 Just wanted to say thanks for a great site and forum , I have learnt a lot here, I started off here about 3 years back, on 56K dial up , and thanks to Rom Dos and Cholla it kinda hit my peak speed , since then my ISP has offered more speed at the same price ($ ) and I have slowly worked up to this result _______________________________________________________________________ :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 4559 Kbps about 4.6 Mbps (tested with 4096 kB) Download Speed is:: 557 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2008/11/17 - 11:08am Bottom Line:: 80X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 1.84 sec Tested from a 4096 kB file and took 7.36 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 214.63 % faster than the average for host (as9105.com) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-5EZX8MFVW User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Maxthon; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) [!] ___________________________________________________________________- the only change I have made is to use "TCP optimiser " to incresease the recive window, for me this test is across 3000 +miles on a Adsl phone line that is not able to run above 2Mbps , so my telco told me (distance )!!! I run Xp Pro , with as a few background services running as possible , I have 30 running at the moment , inc.AVG and firewall , worked on a few slow puters that had 80 running , most not required , my thoughts on this,is keep it lean and clean .if you have to talk to your ISP, keep it polite , get a good Tech engineer , get his name, establish a friendly relationship , belive me they are sick of the abuse they get , go with it and you could get Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 214.63 % faster than the average for host (as9105.com) Just my thoughts from the UK ,
granpa Posted November 17, 2008 CID Share Posted November 17, 2008 Good to hear from you Roco. Great advice on the voicing with your ISP techs, they more than likely didn't design it but get all the complaints from those that don't understand speed, traffic and other things. Anyone complaining should be able to clean things up at home first before jumping on someone else. I like the ISP I have now, I can take my connection with me.
