Buntz Posted January 30, 2009 CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 I remember what i said in the other post My HP allow me to burn my recovery on 3 DVD's. She can't do that. I would also be worry that the virus got into the recovery disk too.

zalternate Posted January 30, 2009 CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 Can't remember,,,But does the CD's have a repair feature on the OEM version? Or does it just nuke the System. I think only the Full Microsoft versions can do a repair. But a repair may not eliminate the infected files. And I know with the Compaq it takes the version from the D: drive and rebuilds the operating system. So the Cd is actually not needed, other than starting a rebuild(one option). But the D: drive 'should' be locked from being written too.
pixiepistlz Posted January 30, 2009 Author CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 These appear as hand made CD's. They are labeled by hand in marker.
zalternate Posted January 30, 2009 CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 I actually have two OEM sets for mine. And I could make one more since I rebuilt the operating system a while back.
Buntz Posted January 30, 2009 CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 Someone probably made them when you first got the computer. On my HP it was the first thing that came up on the screen when I started it, it ask if you wanted to make the recovery disk now. Mine work good the other week when I did a reinstall of Vista on my laptop. The only bad thing about them is all the bloatware is put back on the computer. tommie gorman Posted January 30, 2009 CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 Now she tells me........................... well anyway like Buntz said they are probably done on a new puter. So still good. That does make it easier though.
pixiepistlz Posted January 30, 2009 Author CID Share Posted January 30, 2009 I said I had some discs, and that they could be for that purpose. I never looked at them til tonight. I was told to guard them like fort Knox. In other words, don't misplace them. VERY important! And I am VERY organized. Find things with a blindfold here pretty much.
