zalternate Posted March 8, 2009 CID Share Posted March 8, 2009 With DSL, there is a certain amount of overhead(system data) and then line distance to the main connection point down the street. So your speeds will average about 500Kbps to 1000Kbps slower than package top rated speed. My ISP is Telus and my package is 6Mbps. My stable speeds are about 5200Kbps(5.2Mbps) 24/7. Sometimes there is a delay in processing for full speed if a tech has to do something at the main switch for your connection. But if you are upgrading from 3Mbps, then you have probably hit top speed if it is now stable at that.
vvilliamm Posted March 8, 2009 Author CID Share Posted March 8, 2009 Well I did serveral testes over the days my first time testing landed me an 4.2 Mbps and then I did another one another day 5.1 and then I did it again 6.1 so I just wrote that down . it says 74% in my order status as completed and I just redid another test came out to be 6.
coknuck Posted March 9, 2009 CID Share Posted March 9, 2009 The reason it says you are getting 74% for the average of host is because you are being lumped in with everyone who has Verizon including people who have FIOS.

I had about 24 hours of unstable speeds in the 4mbps range, till it locked in to the new speed. So my tests were all over the place.
