nesis Posted March 25, 2009 CID Share Posted March 25, 2009 I have had FIOS for a little over 2 years now. Up until about 2 months ago all machines in the house ran either XP Pro or XP X64. I recently built both my wife and myself new machines and because of a lack reliable drivers on XP X64 we moved to Vista 64. Ever since our connection with the Actiontec router has been kind of flakey. I subscribe to the 20/5 package and I usually have to reboot the router 2-3 times a day to keep us running at the rated speed otherwise the connection speed plummets (from 20mbit to around 1mbit). Anyone have similar experiences. BTW I had Verizon send me a new router but that didnt resolve the issue. Should I just go buy my own? compute_d Posted March 25, 2009 CID Share Posted March 25, 2009 I am running Vista 64, XP pro, XP64. Had 1 flakey router, but they sent me a replacement for it, have you tried one of the optimizers for your connection? I did, but @ my speed, never really noticed much. mudmanc4 Posted March 26, 2009 CID Share Posted March 26, 2009 Isolate the issue. Remove the router for a 24 hour period, set the automatic test here at testmy.net, and post the results in this thread. Whatever the results, you can go from there, after the 24 hour period by removing all but one of the machines, going from one to the next, post your results. This way you can have the proper information logged in your account for diagnosis purpose.
