wmlarry Posted April 21, 2004 Author CID Share Posted April 21, 2004 It's after 7 p.m. here CA3LE, and typical sat speeds are usually about 1/2 what they are at 7 a.m. Here is a screen capture of the results, with the top one being the first one you asked me to save. Edit: Don't know why the image didn't show, as the link is correct if you put it in browser. Edit again: By the way, it's still doing it: ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 2537 Kbps about 2.5 Mbps (tested with 579 KB) Download Speed is: 310 KB/sec Auth Code: 2038056 (validate at http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 45 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 3.3 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?ta=&top=&align=&num=2038056&kbps=2537&gen=gen&a=11.4285714285714&b=1.71428571428571&c=1145.14285714286
CA3LE Posted April 21, 2004 CID Share Posted April 21, 2004 what do you normally download at? Usually satellite customers are the most happy with my site because I use highly compressed test files and your provider can't compress them (common with satellite... they make you seem like you are faster than you actually are) I fixed your image by the way, make sure you start with http:// next time - Damon
wmlarry Posted April 21, 2004 Author CID Share Posted April 21, 2004 Thanks for the help on the IMG file. I knew better, but age took over. Normal downloads for me from speakeasy usually run 2000 t0 2300 in early a.m., and around 1400 to 1600 in p.m. That's why I thought the downloads here this morning of 2900 and 3200 were bogus. I've tested here before, and usually run from 1900 to 2600, depending on time of day. My tests this morning, just moments from the high download test done here are posted here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,10021166~mode=flat I enjoy your site, and visit at least weekly........just not enough satellite posters to keep me coming back every day. Thanks, Larry
CA3LE Posted April 21, 2004 CID Share Posted April 21, 2004 I truely think that my test is displaying accurate results... you may be seeing a bit of difference because DSLReports has a more congested server than I do... and I think I take many more strides to make sure that my server stays that way... even when it does become overloaded I will just simply buy another server I see no reason why your speed would increase like that... other than the possible fact that your connection just got better, I have not updated anything on my end that would make your results display any faster or slower (though I have done many updates in the past few months, there was nothing that would change you specific results [mostly done back end stuff]) ~~~ I did however on 2.22.04 open up my new faster than ever server... with a bit of backend work that optimized the results a bit. Rethink your situation and let me know, please consider the possibility that you just have a bad ass satellite connection ~~~ of which might have just surfaced........ also, your provider might have got a cleaner line to my server... that would help you out quite a bit....... who knows. I have a copy of XP Pro laying on my desk, and use it on office computer on cable. Quite honestly, I've had zero problems with ME, and am afraid to change. If it ain't broke, why fix it?
