mudmanc4 Posted March 29, 2012 CID Share Posted March 29, 2012 Has anyone been able to get slapd running properly on the latest debian ? Iv'e worked through just about every error anyone has ever had with an ldap server on either ubuntu or debian , and a few on centos lol Installing via apt-get , gets me no initial configuration. Running dpkg-reconfigure slapd gets me Creating initial configuration... Loading the initial configuration from the ldif file () failed with the following error while running slapadd: ldif_read_record: include file:///etc/ldap/schema/core.ldif failed Because there is no core.ldif to copy Iv'e purged everything and used the package manager , that brings me to a plethora of other issues. Thats the latest. Just looking to see who has this server running on debian and if so , whats up doc ?

mudmanc4 Posted March 30, 2012 Author CID Share Posted March 30, 2012 Well hey , Iv'e been accused of that myself as well. When you said 5.7 , it was the give away. Although I have not found a solution , the fact Iv'e configured apache for backuppc, was a revelation I'll not get my time back from lol At this point installing bind9 for ldap is futile. Duh-me I'll work on configuring a virtual server for running it, instead of trying to do something that is likely impossible to do with the current machine configuration. Makes more sense .
