nachos Posted March 11, 2005 CID Share Posted March 11, 2005 For the last 2 months I have been fighting with comcast about horrid latency and packet loss issues. They freely admit there is a porblem yet for some reason refuse to do anything about it. Than last night the "tech" guy said he was offended when I asked to have half of my monthly bill credited to the account until they fixed the problem. Why do people think they can charge full price when you only get 1/8-1/4 of what they advertise.

netmasta Posted March 11, 2005 CID Share Posted March 11, 2005 Part of the problem could be do to the upgrade. If the problem doesn't get better soon and they refuse to fix it, you may want to contact their complaint department. If you still can't get any promises, then contact your Attorney General's office. By the way, I have Comcast and haven't have any bad customer service experiences.
nachos Posted March 11, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 11, 2005 pretty sure they have simply oversold the bandwidth by a TON in this area

JohnHammer Posted March 12, 2005 CID Share Posted March 12, 2005 I had the same problem too! After fighting with Comcast for 90 days. The 8th tech was sent to try to fix the problem. He did one thing all the others failed to do. He took my cable modem to the outside main connection point. Used a Power supply from his truck and called his office to ping my modem. He informed me the settings were wrong and needed to be adjusted at the node. Also, I had too many splitters before the modem as well. He said I needed to have a custom wiring to the PC modem. After the tech left within 24 hrs, Comcast made the adjustment on the node. Yea! Before the adjustment I was slower than a 28.8 modem and now I

Ronnie1055 Posted March 15, 2005 CID Share Posted March 15, 2005 I have had Comcast for over (3) years and just recently... like (2) weeks ago had Verizon FIOS become available. Comcast is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with on customer service... and I don't blame the CSR's... but their management in general. For the most part... my service was very consistent and I usually got better than advertised speeds. But I went through both upgrades and they were complete nightmares. That is where the real frustration comes into play... I have spent the past twenty years in the data communications field and I really have a problem when these guys won't budge from their script. It was always something on my end... or our speeds are not guaranteed. Well... when I go from ~6300 down on a consistent basis to ~4800... then there IS a problem and it's not on my end. Really glad that is all behind me now. I wish you the best of luck with these guys...

Ronnie1055 Posted March 17, 2005 CID Share Posted March 17, 2005 I am really glad I am finally away from these guys... as mentioned ealier... I just cancelled my service and went back to Verizon. The last straw was yesterday... they came out to disconnect my service... which I had already done... so my daughter calls me and says Comcast is here to pick up their modem. So I am laughing and she puts the technician on the phone... I told him I would be very glad to sell him MY modem... but I have never rented a modem from them. No problem he said... and left. How screwed up is that... :?

Ronnie1055 Posted March 18, 2005 CID Share Posted March 18, 2005 It really amazes me how these guys survive with their lack of customer service... I really feel for people who have gone through the upgrade process... because... if you get the speeds... enjoy them. Because sooner or later they are going to have a system glitch and it will take you weeks to get back to your normal speeds.
