8Mbps download speed on 150Mbps connection?

Recommended Posts

My speedtests on other websites show 120+, but on testmy I only get 8?? it says average for comcast in my area is 40.. Im running a motorola surfboard, netgear WNDR4500v2 for router, and netgear WNDA4100 for adapter.

edit:Also, my internet is continually dropping to zero while doing regular gaming

You might want to head over to https://testmy.net/mirror and pick the California servers. You've been testing to Dallas, which is fine, but from what you are explaining, it's obvious the tests you were taking at the other place, are not telling the complete story.

Hi mudmanc4,
I tried both the San Jose and San Francisco servers and my download went up to 15Mbps, which is almost double the old score but still nowhere near what I'm paying for, or what the xfinity speedtest or ookla say I am getting.

edit: What is rather confusing is that the upload rate does not change from the ookla tests more than 1Mbps, (comparing San Francisco testmy server to San Francisco ookla server)

TestMy.net's servers are on a network that has direct peering with some of the biggest names in the Internet backbone. With multi-homed connectivity and bandwidth from over 25 independent Tier 1 carriers including Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, Charter, Qwest, Google, Level 3, Internap, NTT America, Equinix & Telefónica to name a few. The network has a total capacity of over 2000 Gbps and our servers have multiple gigabit uplinks into that network. TestMy is always overstocked with bandwidth and can meet the needs of even the most demanding connections. Our servers are also configured and tested to maintain full quality of service for thousands of miles.
