DarTanyan Posted May 16, 2017 CID Share Posted May 16, 2017 Hello, Can someone help me understand this Mbps situation that I have, here goes. My internet provider sent me a letter stating that they can up my fiber internet speed to 100 Mbps from 50 Mbps but when I do a speed test it's running around 44 Mbps. I am trying to find out will this 100 Mbps make a difference in download and upload speeds? can someone please explain how this works I have searched the internet to find out how this might work but not being computer savvy, I am at a disadvantage someone please help. Pgoodwin1 Posted May 17, 2017 CID Share Posted May 17, 2017 You should definitely see a difference with a higher speed. The question for you is: Is there anything you're doing now on the 50 Mbps plan that is inadequate? If everything you're doing works well enough, then I'd wait to upgrade - assuming it costs more. ronjoc Posted July 19, 2017 CID Share Posted July 19, 2017 500mbps is fast enough unless you do some serious downloads then upgrading to 100mbps can be worth the extra cost.
