hardiksoni Posted April 14, 2005 CID Share Posted April 14, 2005 Well i wanna discuss here about the problems that affect the speed of internet i kno that there are lots of problems but i want u ppl to tell me some of ur experiences that u faced and how u handle them. so that it can help other people too. first when i had Comcast connection my problem was when i turn my modem on it starts and get no signal while i had to wait for hours to get online and then like when it gets online it automatically gets off again and than the problem. i did everything to overcome the problem but nothing helped me out and i had to discontinue my service but than i took the service back again after a month and than the service i have till now and i havent face any major problems yet. i think the most problem may be user facing today is WRONG INSTALLATION made by Comcast service crew people

hardiksoni Posted April 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 14, 2005 yea but both the speeds are normal as according to their plans and i guess 4mbps is not bad for the typical guy like me who jus spends time on internet and play online games but i think the 6 mbps is cheaper becoz u get 2 mbps extra for $10 like $20 off on it
DaveMan Posted April 14, 2005 CID Share Posted April 14, 2005 yes, exactly, I need the 6 mbps, because I like to downlaod songs and other things. And it owns T1, if I am correct, because T1 is 2 mbps I think. Correct me if I'm wrong
php Posted April 14, 2005 CID Share Posted April 14, 2005 T1 is 1.544Mbps...
hardiksoni Posted April 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 14, 2005 T1 is normally 1.5 mbps but the 6mbps is very fast than t1 even 4mbps is fast too.
DaveMan Posted April 15, 2005 CID Share Posted April 15, 2005 thanks, I aksed because this gil yesterday was arguing telling me that T1 is way faster than cable.
hardiksoni Posted April 15, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 15, 2005 T1 has no custom speeds as far as i kno it only comes up with constant speed thats 1.5Mbps. the gal who was arguing with u wasnt wrong on the point that cable is slower than T1, its true or i shall say "it was true" when cable speed limits upto download 768 Mbps and i donno upload but somewhat like that so T1 was considered faster than cable and still some softwares has predescribed T1 speed faster than cable till today, but when the cable got up to 4 and 6Mbps, the T1 was considered slower than Cable. however some ppl still believes that cable is slower than T1 but IT WAS HISTORY, u r the winner in that arguement. DaveMan Posted April 15, 2005 CID Share Posted April 15, 2005 yes, true, there was a time when T1 was fster than cable like u said, but not anymore

hardiksoni Posted April 15, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 15, 2005 one more thing when a installation guy comes in to ur house and says something wrong with ur computer. and also u think ur computer is absolutely fine becoz previous connection was workin fine. i m sure the guy donno the computers or hes a newbie. think about it why would they say wrong to anything to which THEY are sure about and the only

DaveMan Posted April 15, 2005 CID Share Posted April 15, 2005 They just want to get more money out of u. Example: last month a tech comes to my house to amplify the lines and they charge me $50 for that, I was so mad. They charge u for every little thing.
hardiksoni Posted April 16, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 16, 2005 the tech who rolled to my house didnt charged me but he was sure a newbie becoz he said "therz sumthin ron wif da computre" i said "ok so wot am i suppose to do? this computer i brought is IBM newly installed windows and the vendors survives in other country" he said " k sow lemme chek et ones agane ef et deednt wurkd wai tel 2morow" i said ok he handed me a no. and said call this and ask them what to do. so u see they jus keep u enrolling with them whole year as a good customer or worst customer service but u always roll with them no matter wot
hardiksoni Posted April 20, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 20, 2005 ok thats all the problem was? i figured out the basic problem here i had. i installed the firewall and it caused my connection slow down. now for me firewall vs internet speed. whichever wins our computer loses. lol yea sounds like alien vs predator. whoever wins we lose
