RTB Posted July 30, 2004 CID Share Posted July 30, 2004 Download is better Nice. Upload is just above average, but still nice. What is so bad about your ISP?
PatrynXX Posted July 31, 2004 Author CID Share Posted July 31, 2004 2 neg's really. the big one of course is they offer zip for dial up if say I was traveling in a hotel room (though some hotel rooms now offer high speed access free) and virus protection is $5 per account we have 4. thats $20 extra a month. total of $70 a month.. right now it's $50 ($35 for the first computer $5 for each additional connection) 4. I have it settled a little on mine with the Fix It Utilities from V-Com. Which scans the emails
Swimmer Posted July 31, 2004 CID Share Posted July 31, 2004 What does this "virus" protection do that something like Symantec Internet Security doesnt? Is this an option?
PatrynXX Posted July 31, 2004 Author CID Share Posted July 31, 2004 What does this "virus" protection do that something like Symantec Internet Security doesnt? Is this an option? which one? CFU or Fix It? Fix It uses the Trend Micro anti virus system. as well as email scanning. trust it more than Norton. Never could get McAfee to run. There was this one at http://www.free-av.com that isn't too bad. Although the registration for support is all in german.
Swimmer Posted July 31, 2004 CID Share Posted July 31, 2004 no why is the ISP charging you $5 per month for "virus protection"? If you are paying some software company every month I suggest that you go out and buy some internet protection suit... Or call them and see if the offer a package of 5 licences... PatrynXX Posted July 31, 2004 Author CID Share Posted July 31, 2004 they arn't right now... I've got my own virus protection for email. but I'm the only one that does.... technically. that is to say CFU offers virus protection, but I'm not taking it.
