Neogin Posted May 26, 2005 CID Share Posted May 26, 2005 Alright, before anyone says anything, I've already checked out this thread. https://testmy.net/forum/t-2097'>https://testmy.net/forum/t-2097 Now, I've scanned for viruses, checked for spyware/adware, opened up ports, made a static ip, and so on, but my uploading downloading speeds HORRIBLE. resijs Posted May 30, 2005 CID Share Posted May 30, 2005 What's the advertised? Not the actual speeds, but the ones they advertise on the website... It looks like you have a 3 meg up, or you could be running on the 5 meg up and be having a terrible connection. I'm not so good on comcast as I am with verizon, but maybe you could show us a hijackthis log please?

Neogin Posted May 30, 2005 Author CID Share Posted May 30, 2005 I didn't try hijackthis, infact, I find it rather troublesome beacause I might make a mistake. I don't really know how to use it well. What OS are you using/ do you have a router/ What modem ? Did you try and reboot everything ? power evrything down...PC.....Modem.....Router if you have one, and unplug power cords from all. Then power up Modem first and let completely initiaize first, then plug in Router (again if you have one) then the PC. Then try the speed tests again, see if that helps and post it to let us know if that helped, then we can go from there. Windows XP: Home Edition I have a Router. I tried rebooting everything. I took out all the cords, and restarted EVERYTHING.

Just as long as you DON'T select any of the entries listed THEN click "fix" you'll be ok. Just click on the "SCAN Only" button, Copy and paste your results in a post here. cak46 Posted May 30, 2005 CID Share Posted May 30, 2005 Looks like your running 2 types of anti-virus: Nortons and AVG. This could slow you down a bit. Also, you're running zoneAlarm as well. Again, this could slow you down as well. I don't see anything to get in a twist over but someone else may. One other thing I found:, you are running DAP which, according to a lockergnome forum, "You are using DAP which is not technically malware, but it may include malware and allow it into your system. You can find safer alternatives here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php?cat=dlman#dlman " heres the link to above quote: http://help.lockergnome.com/lofiversion/index.php/t23620.html Anyone else have more information on this log I've missed (spyware, virus, speed related)? moonlord Posted May 30, 2005 CID Share Posted May 30, 2005 Dude ! you have a lot of stuff running there. A lot of that could be shut off and I noticed you had avg anti-virus plus norton going at the same time that's not good plus Zone alarm can mess with your speed too. Not sure what all the AOL stuff is, do you still have AOL on your computer? I don't know where to begin.LOL! I also uninstalled some useless junk from my computer. I still don't know why my uploading speed is so...terrible. By any chance, would the TCPOptimizer help? resijs Posted May 31, 2005 CID Share Posted May 31, 2005 blocktracker.exe is not in my hp/bin directory, so that's odd. Quiet Install is odd as well, as well as the many AOLs, antiviruses, and of course ZoneAlarm have major rolls.
