DsT1 Posted June 22, 2005 CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 Frist thing i would do is make sure you have your os set for the bandwidth your cable claims buy default Windows xp . 2000 . is not set up for high speed cable so you need to adjust your mtu TCP rec window i have cox cable and i get 3.8megs here at speed test my tcp rec window is set at 435600 and u need to ping your dns sever to get the correct ttl mine is 247 if you dont know what i am talking about then go towww.speedguide.net look for the windows tweeks for tcp and dns cache install the reg tweeks and reboot to install you right click after unzipping on the file then highlight install and bingo you are all set i suggest you get a router that has Qos built in as it can improve your connection as well
