eduncan911 Posted June 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 23, 2005 Sounds like caching is still a problem for you. Are you running any "Web Accellerators", like from Google, AOL, NetZero, etc? All of those do weird things with stats here on this site. 4Mbps down, and 384kbps up is normal Comcast (for the SourthEast that is). The higher service is Premium. If they had something faster, I'd be paying for it but they don't.

Comcast isn't pumping out speeds like that for home use.

jthm5611 Posted June 23, 2005 CID Share Posted June 23, 2005 its like 600k i think
organ_shifter Posted June 23, 2005 CID Share Posted June 23, 2005 its like 600k i think That's around the area of a 6Mbps download package. Depending on the server, you can get even closer to 700KBps. The initial burst will sometimes be 1Mbps or higher, but after your download is at least halfway finished, your speed will have settled down to actual line speed. I know you turned off the google accelerator, but it could have cached results of the test on the hard drive somewhere. I'm not sure as I don't use it, but if it's job is to accelerate browsing, It could have it's own temp folder for caching pages for faster loading. It may not use Windows temporary internet folder. eduncan911 Posted June 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 23, 2005 Go download something at Microsoft, and take a screen shot of the window. CTRL-Print Screen will capture only that window (or is it ALT-Print Screen, I can never remember). Then attach it to this post.
tbaker397 Posted June 23, 2005 CID Share Posted June 23, 2005 Its alt +Print Screen... anyway... Google Web Accelerator does some funny things to tests... even with it turned off

php Posted June 23, 2005 CID Share Posted June 23, 2005 Actually, its a year... but a couple cached tests will hardly affect the average on an ISP a large as Comcast
