gr8dane Posted June 26, 2005 CID Share Posted June 26, 2005 Is there any advantage or disadvantage (i.e. performance impact) to tweak my settings to the "plan rates" only? If I have a 4000/384 plan from my provider is there any harm done in using the Cablenut settings for say 6000/768? It doesn't appear to make any difference, so why not? One advantage I see is that in case Adelphia update my segment of their network from 4000 to 6000, I would "be ready" and not having to rely on them actually telling me they have upgraded. Also, what is the best, simplest way to establish the latency?
resijs Posted June 26, 2005 CID Share Posted June 26, 2005 To much can give you some packet lost and such.
php Posted June 26, 2005 CID Share Posted June 26, 2005 "Overtweaking" can cause packet loss... for latency, start downloading a large file, and run a ping or tracert while it is downloading... edit: sorry resi3js, misread your post and ended up saying the same thing you did
