Guest helloimtim Posted June 28, 2005 CID Share Posted June 28, 2005 As a fellow dsl user with xp I discoverd by many trial and error trying to tweak dsl with xp for the most part is just a bad Idea. No clue why but xp is pretty tweaked for dsl. Im not saying its not possible just stateing some facts. Before you mess make sure you back up your registry settings. For what its worth I wouldnt do it. But if you still decide to try to tweak save your settings. Just my 2 cents.

technoia Posted June 28, 2005 CID Share Posted June 28, 2005 i am using a homeportal 1000 by 2wire, strange because i am very close to my station 2800 ft. = 0.5 miles. So there shouldnt be any reason for me to only get 1.6 mpbs unless it is capped, do you live in san francisco? I need more speed

cholla Posted June 28, 2005 CID Share Posted June 28, 2005 LilAznHobo & technoia I've used the dslreports test before. It shows my distance at 16500 feet But I called my phone company & they say my line is 26600 feet to far for dsl.I beleive the phone company gave me the correct distance. So I would call the phone company that your dsl service will run through & find out the distance they say it is.
