turner7205 Posted June 29, 2005 CID Share Posted June 29, 2005 Well since Ive had Direcway Installed about 3 weeks ago,ive been at 1000kbps all throughtout the day. Now all of a sudden im at 700kbps. Last time I was at my all time low of 200kbps. Now ive seen people talk about direcway rotating bandwith to different satelites. Is this true and probably what my problem is? I know it doesnt matter but my signal strength is 58. The other night I lost my service due to wheather. Since then its been down. My signal has not changed so I do not believe the dish moved. Any help would be great, Im hoping to use Direcway tech support as a last resort. texasrtr78 Posted June 29, 2005 CID Share Posted June 29, 2005 I am also a newbie DirecWay customer (had it for about 1 month now) and I, too, have experience the ups and downs of speed from day to day. I have also noticed that I can go from aroud 400k to about 1000k in the same hour! Every now and then if my speeds seem to get stuck in a rut I will shut down my computer and turn of my DW6000 and leave it off for about 5 minutes then turn everything back on and most of the time my speeds will come back up to around 950k (sometimes 1100k if I am lucky). I am beginning to think that this is just the way its going to be. My signal strength always stays at around 65 to 70. Never lost a connection before, thank godness. Wish I could help you but I just dont know enough about the technical stuff. Slower Posted June 30, 2005 CID Share Posted June 30, 2005 Dway had some bad weather today over NOC and service/signal strength was on and off all day and still is bad tonight.. http://www.weather.com/weather/map/20902?from=LAPmaps
fikester Posted June 30, 2005 CID Share Posted June 30, 2005 I too had very consistent speed during the [glow=blue,2,300]first 30days[/glow].even during peak times speed remained between 900-1100. That all changed now dips down around 200 very often. I monitor radar often also do not live far from NOC so they cant use that for an excuse every day! turner7205 Posted June 30, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 30, 2005 I could understand that they would slow you down after the 30 days were up, but im only about 3 weeks into my service. We will see what happens over the next few days. Did show signs of improvment but we lost power so I dont know anymore. If the speeds dont resume because I know what they are capable of, then bye bye Direcway. Now I heard someone say the NOC rotates bandwith between Satelites, anyone confirm? Slower Posted July 1, 2005 CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 Dway will "try to" balance the bandwidth load on new hookups but with 250,000 commissioned modems out here I'll let you be the judge.
Buzz Posted July 1, 2005 CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 I know you have heard this before.....but it sounds like you picked up some spyware or keystroke monitor.....I would make sure you check your system out for hidden programs or viruses. turner7205 Posted July 1, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 Well my speeds are back to normal about 1000kbps. Now I see this in my DW6000 System TCP Acceleration Status Impaired Web Acceleration Status Not Operational When Im going from site to site thats what it says. It has a red flag next to it. My pages are loading slower so im not sure how to fix that..any ideas would be great.
Buzz Posted July 1, 2005 CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 TCP Acceleration - Impaired When the DIRECWAY terminal is in this state, some applications may not get the benefit of TCP Acceleration. This is typically a transient state and should clear up by itself in a few seconds. If it persists, try power-cycling your DIRECWAY terminal to see if it recovers from this state. Web Acceleration - Inactive This is the normal Web Acceleration state when you are "not" actively browsing HTTP based websites. Your terminal will automatically bring up the Web Acceleration connection when you start browsing HTTP based websites. Note: Secure HTTP (https) traffic does not use Web Acceleration. So if you are only accessing a secure site (such as an Online banking site), Web Acceleration may be Inactive. This is all I could find out......try the unplug your modem thing for about a minute, plug it back in and reboot your system....good luck If you need further help, please contact Technical Support......HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!
