Thanks guys.

I was wondering if anyone has heard about the supposed upgrades there going to be doing to many cable systems in the near future (in the next year or so). I was reading a blog from some network engineer and he was saying something about cable companies increasing speeds by possibly 100 times over todays speeds by using fiber to the curb and something called Caltech's FAST algorithm (just one of the algorithms supposedly). I'm wondering if anyone knows anything for sure about this.

I do know for sure that SBC using GPON, and Verizon using FiOS are increasing speeds up to and possibly over 20Mb (download) by about this time next year and I heard Verizon has already started this (according to my cousin that works for SBC who likes to plug there DSL every chance he gets). Don't you guys think the cable companies are going to have to do something to compete with that? Anyone know anything about this or maybe what cable companies have planned?? Any insiders out there maybe? thankz!!
