FallowEarth Posted July 7, 2005 CID Share Posted July 7, 2005 Raging_rsx, there's quite a difference between the first download test you posted and the second one.
Raging_rsx Posted July 7, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 7, 2005 seems you have the 4Mb/384kb Plan. Nice speed Thank you! Umm lets see, all i did was read up on some forums and used adaware and spybot, then i forwarded ports and then it just got faster. Is the 60 mb plan worth the extra $10? FallowEarth Posted July 7, 2005 CID Share Posted July 7, 2005 Is the 60 mb plan worth the extra $10? That depends on what you do with your Internet connection. If you download a lot of large files, then you will most definitely notice the diff. But if you just use the Internet for browsing and email or whatever, there's no point in upgrading. Basically, if you find yourself saying: "man, I wish this download would be done already," then upgrade. If not, then don't.

Basically, if you find yourself saying: "man, I wish this download would be done already," then upgrade. If not, then don't. that is very true. upgrade ONLY if you play online games (xbox, ps2) so the games wont lag. also it is 6Mb/768kb Plan not 60Mb

netsendjoe Posted July 11, 2005 CID Share Posted July 11, 2005 hi everyone. im Joe in Jersey .. I've been a Comcast subscriber for like 4 years now. I've been having trouble uploading lately. If I go through FTP it will upload like the 10 to 20k of the file and then it will just stop and sit there until it or the server returns a timeout. This issue has been persistant for 4 days now. Normally I'm plugged into a router on a 2 computer mini-network, but since I've been having problems with the internet I've since turned off my server machine and plugged my main computer in directly for best diagnosis. I'm wondering if Comcast has imposed limitations on me because of excessive bandwidth usage? I host a small FTP / website which was running 24/7 for a good few months. I found some details on my modem, which is an RCA made by Thomson model DCM235. Cable Signal Details Forward Path: Signal Acquired at 723.000 MHz SNR: 36.6 dB Received Signal Strength: 5.6 dBmV Micro-Reflections: 21 dBc Modulation: 256 QAM Return Path: Connection: Acquired Frequency: 24 MHz Power Level: 39.0 dBmV Channel ID: 2 Modulation: QPSK Provisioned Address: Yes Provisioned Time: Yes Provisioned Configuration: Yes Registered: Yes BPI: Enabled :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 3470 Kbps about 3.5 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 424 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Mon Jul 11 11:52:52 EDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 62X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.42 sec Diagnosis: 90% + Okay : running at 96.1 % of your hosts average (comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-6E0KODU87 and I cant actually get an upload test because it continues to fail... though I did get one yesterday which said I have 0k upload speed....
