disturbed Posted September 17, 2004 CID Share Posted September 17, 2004 Having some trouble with cox last few days..... I dont know if any of you are experiencing this, but I have a significant decrease in speed - i have always been able to hit ~5000Kbps on download tests and right now I cant get past ~3000Kbps - thats pretty significant, webpages seem to load slower and all that - if any of you want to see what Im talking about take a look at my 30day report ( http://www.testmy.net/personal_stats_30d.php?comp_id=625701115054'>http://www.testmy.net/personal_stats_30d.php?comp_id=625701115054 ) - anybody got any ideas of what could be happening ? any help appreciated, i wanna get back up Here's a download test I ran now: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 3439 Kbps about 3.4 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 420 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 61 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.44 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=75H43TXNU -it's not so bad, but it's still a significant drop in speed
RTB Posted September 17, 2004 CID Share Posted September 17, 2004 Ask around if more people joined your node. That should affect the extra speed the most.
Swimmer Posted September 17, 2004 CID Share Posted September 17, 2004 They may have capped you for a little while.. They maybe proforming network maintaince and move a bunch of people over for a little while.. I know it sucks but can you really tell the difference betweek 3 and 5? I am sure that the downloads are a little slower but other than that...
luwigie Posted September 17, 2004 CID Share Posted September 17, 2004 Browsing should still be snappy on 3 mbps. I would do a tracert to testmy.net to see if you are experiencing any latency on a router. This may be the cause of the slow down of the test. Also, try to download a test file ftp://ftp1.optonline.net If this is slow, then it's a connection problem. If it isn't, then it is a routing problem between your connection and testmy.net. I was going to offer you do a test from http://luwigie.com/tests/ but I am in the same data center as this site.
jd5419 Posted October 4, 2004 CID Share Posted October 4, 2004 I too have noticed this, i live in RI and i've noticed a signifigant drop recently. i'm quite dissiapointed and pretty much all of my friends have noticed the same thing. page loads are taking longer yet i do test to ~3000mbps, i dont think the slow web page loads have to do with the slower connection testing but latency or some odd type thing. where is your locaiton? Shug7272 Posted October 4, 2004 CID Share Posted October 4, 2004 Disturbed I live in south Texas and have had the SAME problem for the past month. I was DL at about 5000 and it dropped to about 2500-3000, last 2 days it has been 4000 though.
