Hawkflyer Posted July 22, 2005 CID Share Posted July 22, 2005 Hello all, I have Earthlink cable through Road Runner TWC. Download speed is awesome. Upload speed appears to be unstable and goes from sucks to worse than sucks (
dn0 Posted July 22, 2005 CID Share Posted July 22, 2005 Could be intermittent noise on the line, or a levels issue. What brand modem? Can you give us your levels? If it a Motorola modem, go to http://192.168.100.1 and select the signal tab. Copy and paste back here (no personal info on that page). Are you running WinXP? If so, from command prompt, type 'pathping testmy.net' and let it do its thing. It will say "computing statistics for xxx seconds". Wait that out, and post that back here, all this assuming you have WinXP.
Hawkflyer Posted July 22, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 22, 2005 Thank you dn0. It is a new Toshiba modem that they installed yesterday. Was a RCA. The RCA was losing packets. The Toshiba is not according to TWC. I am running WinXP with SP2 installed. Last night when I tested on testmy.net I was 2-6 kb/s. This morning I am sticking at 45kbs. Tracing route to testmy.net [XX.XX.XXX.XXX] over a maximum of 30 hops: Computing statistics for 25 seconds... Source to Here This Node/Link Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address 0 100/ 100 =100% | 1 --- 100/ 100 =100% 0/ 100 = 0% Trace complete. Hope this helps? dn0 Posted July 22, 2005 CID Share Posted July 22, 2005 You know, I don't think you can get levels out of Toshiba modems. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The pathping results should show alot more info than what's on your last post. BTW, it may show your computer name, which may be you're name, check that b4 you post it again. Try it again, it should compute the stats for at least 300 seconds or so, it takes time. It is kind of a stability test, computes over a longer time than tracert command does. Open the txt file attached below, it is an example of my results.
