php Posted August 2, 2005 CID Share Posted August 2, 2005 Possibly via Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance, also VNC would work pretty good
Swimmer Posted August 2, 2005 CID Share Posted August 2, 2005 remote desktop is a good way to go assuming you are running windows xp pro.. you can only client on other versions.. vnc is also a good one.. Make sure that you have the service set up and router through the router if needed before you leave! Also the IP address might switch on you.. so send her to whatismyip.com if you are having trouble connecting.

bent240LV Posted August 8, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 i tried to connect to her but i just kept getting a connection timed out message. Cold it be that she is on dial up and im on cable?
Swimmer Posted August 8, 2005 CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 i tried to connect to her but i just kept getting a connection timed out message. Cold it be that she is on dial up and im on cable? :haha: Umm.. that could be just a little bit of a problem. She is going to have to go to this site every time she signs on to the internet. whatismyip.com and either email you her ip address or call you. Once she signs off the ip address will change. This will also not connect if she is offline. I would guess it is not going to be an enjoyable experience on 56k..
bent240LV Posted August 8, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 well she was online when i was trying and she did go to the isp site and i got it. I think i might just wait till she gets cable to try again. IT was attempting to connect but it just said times out.
Swimmer Posted August 8, 2005 CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 their could be to much lag or if she has a firewall that might have blocked it. I would check the firewall log when you get back and see if there is an attack registered. 56k isnt going to be much fun anyways.. the lag is going to make you really angry.. bent240LV Posted August 8, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 shold i have firewall disable when i try next time?
Swimmer Posted August 8, 2005 CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 yeah.. i would try that.. if it work then when you get back you need to adjust the rules on that firewall.
just- Posted August 8, 2005 CID Share Posted August 8, 2005 i use radmin quiet nice and uses low bandwidth maybe not the easiest of installations watch out if they have routers and not pluged in to the modem you need to port forward a bit of a pain in the back side
Swimmer Posted August 9, 2005 CID Share Posted August 9, 2005 Great program!!! VNC is a little bit easier to setup.. but I have used that program to administer my home servers..
