texco Posted August 5, 2005 CID Share Posted August 5, 2005 I just had fios installed in my house & i am only getting 10/1 down and up, I should be getting 15/2. Any suggestions? I noticed this when the installer was there but on the speed test he ran through Verizons test i was getting 17/2. I saw a post about having mcafee. Will that slow my speeds down? Blunted Posted August 5, 2005 CID Share Posted August 5, 2005 just add testmy.net as an allowed website and it wont slow the speed
FiosFiend Posted August 7, 2005 CID Share Posted August 7, 2005 Have you tried turning off mcafee and testing? I've seen several posts here about slow downs caused by mcafee. I use PC-Cillin and have no problems. I was, however, only getting 1.7MB up stream until I downloaded and used Cablenuts. If you download this (free) I'll give you the settings that I used. Perhaps that would help you on the upside, though probably no that much.

tonymax Posted December 23, 2005 CID Share Posted December 23, 2005 I am now posting my speeds with the upgraded to the 30/5 package and it still is crap. I can often average about 25mbps down but I have never achieved greater than 1.20mbps upstream which is pretty bad to be representative of what is supposed to be 5 mbps up. With the 15/2 package I could get about 14 mbps down but never more than 0.8 mbps upstream, again pitiful. Tonight: :::.. You can get a 15/2 package with RR too if you subscribe to their digital phone service. I can't justify 179.00 for the 30/5, and you have to sign up for a one year commitment for that. If I could consitantly get within 8-10 % at least of the rated I would consider it, but I don't have close. I am in Land O Lakes, which is in Pasco county about 10-15 mile north of Tampa proper. Voltageman Posted December 23, 2005 CID Share Posted December 23, 2005 Here is the Cablenut file I am using... So far it has given me the best results... Try it out.. EDITED- I screwed around with my settings a bit..here is what I got... I don't think the upload is always that accurate..Most sites have my upload at a constant 4,500Kbps, and I have read as high as 4.6mb here...Dunno... Anyway the most recents settings seem to benefit the download..still messing with the upload setting..****edited**** Seems I found a good setting for the upload...
