tommie gorman Posted December 6, 2006 CID Share Posted December 6, 2006 Is that the old 4000 speeds. I heard most were barely getting 1000. Then not too bad.

tommie gorman Posted December 6, 2006 CID Share Posted December 6, 2006 I just checked the speed, I got a 307 D/L. Won't get the top speed til after bed time around 2 or 3 AM. They say the new 7000HS or what ever will be faster. I also heard rumor of 8.0 available some day. Yes, on hughes.net. Maybe in the next century. tommie gorman Posted December 7, 2006 CID Share Posted December 7, 2006 Welcome to the forum BigR_usa Kinda like Sparticus said up there. Start with those. And first of all post a test with the 2992 file test so we can observe the goings on while helping. I am also on the 6000. I prefer the TCP Optimizer for tweaking best. StephyJ Posted December 8, 2006 CID Share Posted December 8, 2006 Hi again, sorry I'm been MIA...I've had my head stuck in a Microbiology text book for the last few months . Anyway, here's my DWay 6000 D/L speeds (they've been slow for a while now). And here's a question for all of you that are smarter than I am: We received a letter from our local phone company (Frontier) stating that we can now get DSL (1 mb download/128 kbs upload) for $49.99 a month ($13 less than DWay). Would you switch? :::.. tommie gorman Posted December 8, 2006 CID Share Posted December 8, 2006 [move]HECK YES[/move] Not sure why the speeds would be so low though. But the consistency would be great. AGAIN, yes.
fikester Posted December 9, 2006 CID Share Posted December 9, 2006 We received a letter from our local phone company (Frontier) stating that we can now get DSL (1 mb download/128 kbs upload) for $49.99 a month ($13 less than DWay). Would you switch? Would I switch?......I would be camped out at the Frontier office waiting for the next service man to arrive ! Regardless of the download speed/ burst speeds up or down on satellite, the pings are 700-3000ms always. Pings on the DSL should be less than 200ms, so even if you don't play online games or do online auctions....this means you don't have that delay when clicking on a website with DSL. This is a no brain'r [move][glow=red,2,300]DSL WINS HANDS DOWN[/glow][/move]
