TJC Posted August 11, 2005 CID Share Posted August 11, 2005 I need a new modem to go with my D-Link Wireless Gaming Router (DWL-4300) because my current modem is USB connected, and I need ethernet for my router. My current modem is a ADSL Speedtouch supplied by NTL with my package. Any suggestions for a good modem? Price doesn't really matter if it's worth it. Thanks
resijs Posted August 11, 2005 CID Share Posted August 11, 2005 Wouldn't it be USB or Ethernet connectable? Usually they are.

TJC Posted August 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 12, 2005 If you're talking about the router, it's only Ethernet. Where as my modem can only use USB. I mean, the wire is soldered right on to the modem so I can't change it. So, still, I need some suggestions of good Ethernet modems. My broadband speed is 2.2mbps btw. netmasta Posted August 12, 2005 CID Share Posted August 12, 2005 What is the make and model of your modem. All modems should have ethernet.
TJC Posted August 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 12, 2005 I don't know the exact model, but it's a ADSL USB SpeedTouch supplied by NTL with my broadband package. The ethernet cable connects to the phone line, and the USB to the computer. I can't remove the USB wire and exchange it for an ethernet cable because the USB wire is soldered right on to the modem. MYRIAGON Posted August 12, 2005 CID Share Posted August 12, 2005 I have a neighbor down the street that had one of those modems, his was round like a disk if I remember correctly. He ended up getting a westell modem with ethernet and we had to install a NIC on his PC for him. As far as I know he still has the westell and working good. His looked like this. TJC Posted August 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 13, 2005 Yeah it's similarly shaped to that modem, but newer. So what should I buy? I really need to get something soon.
