I can't even play games! I'm on Windows XP x64 Bit Edition, with Service Pack 1 (I can't get 2, and there are no updates for it). This was tested with Avast! OFF, my firewall OFF, and my cable plugged right into my computer (instead of through my router). I even unplugged my modem for 5 minutes before doing this test, TWICE. Shang Posted September 18, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 18, 2005 Cannon Valley Cable, I'm like 13 miles out of town and it's the only provider I can get. It was fine a week ago (Not the fastest, but doable). Now it's horrible.

Shang Posted September 18, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 18, 2005 I thought it was my router because I clicked the Internet thing in my Control Panel and it showed that I only sent/recieved about 1/4th or less of the packets, but obviously that isn't the problem. mrhan Posted September 18, 2005 CID Share Posted September 18, 2005 Ok. I see you don't have many options. But I researched and maybe looking into another provider might be a good idea. Here is what I found within 15 miles of your current provider. DM Broadband http://www.dmbroadband.com 507-645-7614 Midwest Wireless http://www.midwestwireless.com (507) 334-8728 or www.bevcomm.net You could also do Satelite. Check www.pcpitstop.com Clean up your computer if it needs it.
pitbull481 Posted September 18, 2005 CID Share Posted September 18, 2005 Welcome to The Forum Shang what is your advertise speeds?
Niccko Posted September 18, 2005 CID Share Posted September 18, 2005 i had the same issue. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-7422.0 see if they cant get you on a high priority ip so you can get the allocated speed that you should be getting, because u pay for it. also look to see if the cable internet reciever is blocked by trees corn fields anything. if theres stuff in the way that you cant get rid of ask your cable provider to get you a tripod pole to put on top of your house to fix the possibility of debree and "thermal expantion". if it only does those slow speeds at certain times of the day like twards night time or like say 5pm damn near every night then i beleive thats thermal expantion also have them recheck your preferred DNS and alternate sometimes when those might be off a number u get whacky speeds.
