bigw Posted September 27, 2005 CID Share Posted September 27, 2005 Well I found out that the cable company is only charging 25 bucks for 5mb down. This is much cheaper than the 40 bucks that I am paying for .5 mb down from the phone company. I was wondering if I will need to change any of my firewall settings. I was also wondering if I would notice a big difference in the speeds. I would also like any other tips you guys might have!!!

EvilNightHawk3 Posted September 27, 2005 CID Share Posted September 27, 2005 If you plan on hosting then stay with DSL cuz cable is murder when people complain and then your upload gets restricted.>>>

raptors892004 Posted September 27, 2005 CID Share Posted September 27, 2005 Even if the speeds fluctuate, its not going to be by that much.. And you save 15$ per month..

Blunted 2 Posted September 28, 2005 CID Share Posted September 28, 2005 everyone i know or ever connected to with cable sucks for gaming and cant host for crap like the cable i had (optimum online). also i hate people saying this is better and that is better it depends where you live so there is no better one and each one has its advantages and disadvantages to live with. bigw Posted October 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 2, 2005 I was getting dsl through Bevcomm.net (our local phone company) Now I am going to move to Mediacom the cable company. That said that they would give us a good deal. Looking forward to this Thursday so I can check the speeds and see how true they are!!!!!!
