netmasta Posted October 4, 2005 CID Share Posted October 4, 2005 Do you have a disk in the floppy or (not likely to cause the message) but a cd in a cd drive? Or actually even a usb/flash drive connected?

organ_shifter Posted October 4, 2005 CID Share Posted October 4, 2005 Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready Just as you stated Netmasta, I get that message whenever I have a non-bootable floppy in the drive. You may want to try holding F8 as the system tries to start. If you can get to the additional boot options menu, start with the last known configuration settings that worked. cholla Posted October 4, 2005 CID Share Posted October 4, 2005 Hold down Ctrl as soon as you turn the power on .This may gave a keyboard stuck error message & give you the option to go into your BIOS.If it does see what your start up order is make sure your main HD is first unless you normally boot from a floppy or cd. Do you have a start up floppy or EBD?
moni33 Posted October 4, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 4, 2005 I can't access the BIOS and my HD is ok I test it on my other pc I unplug my cd and dvd ( I dont have flopy) and .... the same message
netmasta Posted October 4, 2005 CID Share Posted October 4, 2005 It sounds like your MBR (master boot record) could be corrupeted, that is if that drive does not work as a primary drive in the other computer too. EDIT: What is the OS on both computers?
cholla Posted October 5, 2005 CID Share Posted October 5, 2005 moni33: Different Computers & motherboards may have a little different way to access the BIOS you need to find your PC's..You shouldn't even need a HD or OS installed to access your BIOS.If you can't access your BIOS then there is a problem with your motherboard.Or maybe your RAM but that is not likely. The BIOS is typically placed on a ROM chip that comes with the computer (it is often called a ROM BIOS). This ensures that the BIOS will always be available and will not be damaged by disk failures. It also makes it possible for a computer to boot itself.
