ghostmaster Posted October 12, 2005 CID Share Posted October 12, 2005 1. Grounding.. Hell NO!! Call the company and tell them what he did! That static buildup might be causing some of your problems. 2. If he grounded your system like that, he probably didnt point the dish correctly. I would call the installer and tell them that it is unacceptable and they need to send another installer out immediately. The 1 watt transmitter is standard for the consumer edition. 2 watt is for SOHO and business plans. Also, the Satellite you're pointing at has been having speed issues, esp during the evening hours. Try running the test during the day and see what happends.

Xylem Posted October 13, 2005 CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 Online tech support told me to ground the cables by unscrewing them from the modem and touching the copper wiring inside the cable with my finger.
resopalrabotnick Posted October 13, 2005 CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 what you aree describing is a static discharge, not a permanent ground. we are talking grounding itr to a water main, or the electrical ground of the house or similar here. Xylem Posted October 13, 2005 CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 I see, "Spencer" of Direcway online tech support described the process as "grounding the coaxial cables". so I blame him for the confusion
jwilburn Posted October 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 Well my speeds last night went down to 6kbs, the advanced tech support guy from direcyway agreed that was pathetic. It has not been even 30 days since the install the tech said he thinks that I could tell them I dont want their service. Any advice on returning the system
ghostmaster Posted October 13, 2005 CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 The DW7000 systems have been having problems with speed esp at night. But some of the people I know that were having the problem says that it is resolved. It is something wrong on Dway's end.
Xylem Posted October 14, 2005 CID Share Posted October 14, 2005 Cancelling the Direcway service is going to be a pain in the ass, even if it hasn't been 30 days yet. You have to pay them an additional $100 termination fee, and a deposit of $400, then uninstall the system yourself and send it to them, upon recieval they'll refund your $400. If you want them to uninstall it "professionally", that's another $100.
jwilburn Posted October 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 14, 2005 Already canceled the credit card they have for billing. They can fight out their amounts later
